2024 AFL Grand Final: guide | TV Tonight

The Sydney Swans face the Brisbane Lions at the MCG for the 2024 AFL Grand Final this Saturday, live on Seven and, in a grand final first, on 7Plus.

Coverage on Grand Final Day begins at 7am AEST while footy fever continues each day this week ahead of the big game.

Superstar Katy Perry also performs at the MCG (with a Sunrise interview today) while Mike Brady will perform Up There Cazaly.

Seven’s Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said: “For the first time since South Melbourne and Fitzroy met in the 1899 VFL Grand Final, the Swans and the Lions will travel south for the biggest day on the Australian sporting calendar – and we couldn’t be more excited.

“As Australian Rules football continues to reach new heights in Queensland and New South Wales, it’s fitting that the two best teams of 2024 herald from the northern states. If you thought State of Origin was big, wait until you see this rivalry. It’s going to be massive.

“With a state-of-the-art broadcast including the most cameras ever used, paired with football’s most astute commentary and hosting team, the 2024 AFL Grand Final is set to be the biggest, most impressive Grand Final Day broadcast ever seen. Do not miss a minute, right here on Seven and 7plus, Your Home of Footy,” he said.

Melbourne Premiership captain Max Gawn will join Seven’s Grand Final coverage as part of the Grand Final Brunch, hosted by 7NEWS Melbourne’s Rebecca Maddern while Collingwood 403 game player Scott Pendlebury will join the Grand Final Countdown panel, hosted by Luke Darcy.

Football’s #1 commentary team will field an unbeatable Grand Final line-up on Saturday, featuring Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Bruce McAvaney, Hamish McLachlan, Luke Hodge, Matthew Richardson, Abbey Holmes, Dale Thomas, Max Gawn, Luke Darcy, Shaun Burgoyne, Jude Bolton, Scott Pendlebury, Chris Johnson, Rebecca Maddern, Joel Selwood, Campbell Brown, Cameron Ling, Kate McCarthy and Katie Brown. 7NEWS football reporters Mitch Cleary, Theo Doropoulos and Kate Massey will present all the breaking news throughout the day.

Viewers will enjoy more than 12 hours of coverage on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus Sport across Saturday, kicking off at 7.00am AEST with the Weekend Sunrise AFL Grand Final Day Special and continuing non-stop until the Grand Final post-match presentations and celebrations wind up at after 7.00pm AEST.

Before the first bounce, Seven will take fans live to one of the most highly anticipated AFL Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment shows in history, headlined by international pop superstar Katy Perry. With a production that will include innovations never before seen on the Grand Final Day stage, viewers will not want to miss a moment.

Katy Perry will also be on Sunrise tomorrow morning for an exclusive interview ahead of her AFL Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment performance – and before she takes to the stage on Saturday, she will sit down with 7AFL expert commentator Abbey Holmes to discuss the preparations for the epic performance.
