Tom Kim will test his luck (and golf game) at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas this week with a chance to match some PGA Tour history. He may be just 22 years old, but TK is hoping to make it a third straight victories at Shriners Children’s Open after setting the tournament scoring record in 2022 and beating Adam Hadwin by one shot in 2023.
When we last saw Kim on the course he was having an … eventful Presidents Cup. Now Kim has a chance to become the first golfer to threepeat in a PGA Tour event since Steve Stricker reigned at the John Deere Classic from 2009-’11. There’s added incentive, too, as Kim ranked outside the top 50 in FedEx Cup points list, leaving him looking to secure a spot into next year’s early Signature Events. This will be the South Korean’s first stroke-play competition since the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August.

Other notables competing in Vegas include Matt McCarty—who won last week’s Black Desert Championship in just his third career PGA Tour start—along with Taylor Pendrith, Joel Dahmen, Vince Whaley and Daniel Berger. Those final three pros, in particular, have a lot riding on the next few FedEx Cup Fall events as all are right near the 125 bubble cutline. Dahmen sits at 124, Whaley at 125 and Berger at 126. Only the top 125 get full exempt status on tour in 2025.
This week’s winner will receive a $1.26 million cut of the $7 million purse.

TPC Summerlin co-hosted the 1996 Shriners Children’s Open (then the Las Vegas Invitational), where Tiger Woods captured his first career PGA Tour victory. The Las Vegas desert layout, designed by Fuzzy Zoeller and Bobby Weed, winds through arroyos and canyons. As you’d expect from a TPC facility, the practice facilities are tremendous, covering 12 acres and including two short game areas and a 10,000 square-foot practice green. View Course TV Schedule
