Mitchell Starc has broken the unwanted record for most runs conceded by an Australian during an over in ODIs as England’s Liam Livingstone launched into a blistering assault at Lord’s on Friday.
Livingstone clobbered 28 runs in the final over of England’s innings during the fourth ODI at the Home of Cricket, clearing the boundary rope four times as Starc produced a series of half-volleys and full tosses.

Starc, searching for the yorker, couldn’t get his lengths right while bowling at the death, much to the frustration of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting.
“The short balls with no pace on them is what’s worked to Livingstone,” Ponting said on Sky Sports commentary.
“If you get straight and you get full, that’s exactly what he’s after.
“Why would you change what’s worked?
“Starc persisted with that fuller length, if you miss by a few inches, you are gone.”

Livingstone, having scored the most runs in an over during an ODI at Lord’s, scored a dazzling 62* (27) to set the Australians a tricky 313-run target for victory. Meanwhile, Starc finished with 0-70 from eight overs, the worst bowling figures by an Australian at Lord’s since 1989.
The match was reduced to a 39-over contest due to a rain delay, but England still managed to smack 12 sixes, another ODI record at the iconic venue.
