It has been a historic year for women’s basketball, with records being broken left, right and centre at both the collegiate and professional level.
With March Madness now concluded, headlined by South Carolina finishing their undefeated season with a second championship in three years, all eyes now turn to the WNBA draft.
The draft class will be headlined by basketball superstar and all-but guaranteed top pick Caitlin Clark, but Australian basketball fans will have plenty to watch for, with three Aussies projected to hear their names called come draft day.

This year’s WNBA draft will be held on Tuesday, April 16, set to start at 9:30 am AEST.
The draft will be held at Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.
A strong contingent of Aussies will be hoping to hear their names called in the 2024 WNBA draft, with three prospects expected to be taken in the first two rounds.
Both Nyadiew Puoch and Isobel Borlase are considered to be top-ten talents, a pair of current WNBL rising stars who are all but certain to be selected in the first round.
Rounding out the trio is Jaz Shelley, the Victorian-born Nebraska guard projected to be picked in the early-to-mid twenties.
There will be 15 players attending the green room of the 2024 WNBA Draft, hoping to hear their names read out in person, and get their chance to walk across the stage.
Nyadiew Puoch is the only non-college player invited to this year’s draft.
