The inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) – USA’s premier domestic T20 competition – was a grand success.
The first-ever season held in the US last year saw six teams taking part in the competition with MI New York lifting the trophy in the end beating Seattle Orcas in the final.

Steve Smith to play in Major League Cricket Season 2
On April 11, ESPNCricinfo reported that former Australian captain and star batter Steve Smith is all set to take part in the second season of the MLC.
Which team will Steve Smith join in MLC Season 2?
The report further added that Smith will join Washington Freedom in season 2 of the MLC. He will play under the tutelage of Ricky Ponting who is the coach of the franchise owned by Indian-origin American businessman Sanjay Govil.
Speculation of Smith joining the MLC has been high ever since he was roped in as the brand ambassador of Washington Freedom last year.

How did Washington Freedom perform in MLC Season 1?
In the inaugural season, Freedom finished third in the league stage and were then eliminated from the eliminator losing to eventual champions MI New York.
