The only two Australians remaining at the Monte Carlo Masters – Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin – will square off in the round-of-16 on Thursday evening (AEST).
On a clay surface Australians have traditionally not performed well on, one of De Minaur or Popyrin will reach the last eight and take on world no.1 Novak Djokovic or Italian talent Lorenzo Musetti.
