The ongoing Indian Premier League(IPL 2024) has almost reached its mid-way, with match No. 34 between Chennai Super Kings and Luckow Super Giants on April 19, 2024.
After the end of the cash-rich league, fans and cricket lovers are eagerly waiting for the marquee tournament, the T20 World Cup 2024, which will begin on June 1 and India will play its first fixture against Ireland.
This IPL season has seen some extraordinary individual performances and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) young sensational speedster has been in the limelight and caught everyone’s attention after his sensational debut against Punjab Kings.
Mayank Yadav had made waves on cricketing circles and among fans bowling thunderbolts over 150 clicks consistently. His fastest delivery was of 156 clicks, which was the fastest delivery so far.
Mayank Yadav, a 21-year-old, has been the talk of the town because of his perfect combination of raw pace and extraordinary speed. Many fans and former cricketers have already suggested the name of the star bowler for inclusion in the T20 World Cup.
Tom Moody, former Australian Cricketer said that he believes that it is too early to bring Mayank Yadav into the National team as he lacks experience and is facing injury concerns. He believes that he should be groomed systemically rather than being fast-tracked in Team India.
“I’ve loved what I saw for a first couple of games, it was quite extraordinary to the point you want to see the replays of that game. But you cannot have a knee-jerk reaction and pick him in the World Cup, when he has only played two games and got injured.“You don’t really know what he’s capable of doing over a long period of time, under pressure and in different roles. Yes, he’s an absolute lock for the future, and look after the asset. For me, it’s the 2026 World Cup you should be looking at (with him),” Moody told ESPNCricinfo.
Mayank Yadav faced injury during the fixture against Gujarat Titans (GT) and from then he was away from action. While there was no official statement released by the LSG management regarding his comeback. A practice session video was uploaded by the LSG on their social media.
