Jake Fraser McGurk was born in Victoria on April 11, 2002. Interestingly, that is also the date when he made his IPL debut, as a 22-year-old. Being based in Victoria, McGurk has represented his state across various domestic tournaments and age groups.
He has also represented his country rising through the ranks, including the U19 level. Moreover, McGurk holds a peculiar record of scoring the fastest century – off 29 deliveries – in the List A format.
Fraser McGurk made his ODI debut for Australia against West Indies at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground on February 04, 2024.
The 22-year-old has made two appearances for his country so far, batting aggressively in both outings.
His high score of 41 runs in just 18 deliveries in Canberra in just his second game for his country, paved his way to the IPL, catching the eyes of the DC owners and scouts.

Fraser McGurk’s exploits in the ongoing IPL 2024 would have surely caught the eyes of Cricket Australia and the panel of selectors. A fearless approach against Lucknow Super Giants (55) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (65) would be worthy of a selection shout, but is it too late?
IPL is one of the biggest platforms to prove your mettle, and McGurk so far, has proved he has nerves made of steel. Having yet to make his T20I debut for Austria, it could be too soon for the 22-year-old to be in the national team reckoning.
However, Australia’s RCB duo of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have been out-of-form in IPL 2024. Here, some consistency from JFM could get him sneaked on the berth to the USA, with an outside chance.
