He was the 324th player to play Test cricket for Australia and also achieved a First Class high score of 324 not out.
The number became synonymous with Jones, and daughter Phoebe honoured that with a special tribute at her wedding.
Phoebe had the number 324 embroidered on her dress when she tied the knot with partner Dario Gomez in Boracay, Philippines, this week.
Sister Isabella, who goes by Augusta, was one of the bridesmaids, while mother Jane was also in attendance.
Phoebe also has a lasting tribute to Dean on her Instagram with #324forever on her profile page.
Dean was in India as part of the commentary team for Star India’s English coverage of the 2020 IPL when the tragic incident occurred in a hotel lobby.
Fellow Australian cricket great Brett Lee was there and sprung into action and attempted CPR. Jones was taken by ambulance to hospital but was unable to be saved.
Augusta shared her heartbreak to Instagram following the news.
“I cannot believe I am writing this. My heart is broken,” she wrote.
“My dad. My hero. The sweetest and most caring person you could ever meet.
“If only you could see now how many lives you touched. If only you could see now how loved you were.
“You held my hand through the toughest times this year, how will I do this without you?
“The heavens have opened their gates for another angel. Wait for me Dad.
“Everything I do is for you. I love you Dad.”
