Swedish superstar Henrik Stenson once made headlines when he cruised down Augusta National’s Magnolia Lane, windows down, with his favourite music blaring.
On Friday night at the Port Adelaide vs St Kilda AFL showdown, he made even more noise by winning one lucky fan a brand new car of their own thanks to his laser-precision iron play.
A special guest of the Port Adelaide Power for their Round 7 showdown against the Saints, Stenson ventured out into the middle of Adelaide Oval during the half-time interval to take aim at a target with plenty at stake. While details are still sketchy, Stenson apparently had to land his ball inside a coloured target to secure one lucky fan – Salisbury Downs’ Darren Marschall – a brand new car.
What followed was absolute bedlam to match a chaotic first day’s play at LIV Golf Adelaide:
They don’t call him “The Iceman” for nothing. Our favourite part was Stenson’s little quip at the end: “Do you think he’ll buy me a drink?”
Well played, Henrik. We hope you got a free drink or two – and a free ride home, windows down!
