Australia’s Hannah Green successfully defended her title to win the LA Championship 2024 golf tournament at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, California on Sunday.

It was the Australian golfer’s fifth LPGA Tour title of her career and the second of the year following her win at the Women’s World Championship in Singapore in February.

The 27-year-old Hannah Green carded 12-under 272 (67-69-70-66) to bag the title from Sweden’s Maja Stark by three strokes.

Grace Kim finished tied-25th (one-under), Sarah Kemp T-39 (one-over) and Karis Davidson was T-57 (+3) at the LA Championship 2024.

Aussie golfers Stephanie Kyriacou, Minjee Lee, Robyn Choi, Gabriela Ruffels and Hira Naveed did not make the cut.

“To obviously already win in Singapore and then win here this week I hope that I can get closer to my goal of being in the top 10 in the world and solidify my spot in the Olympics,” said Green, who fell three shots short of a medal at the Tokyo Olympics and finished fifth.

Hannah Green is currently world No. 18 in the women’s golf rankings and second among the Australians with Minjee Lee holding the sixth spot.

In golf, qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics is determined by rankings, limited to 60 men’s and 60 women’s players.

The top 15 players on the Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR) can secure quotas for the Olympic Games, up to a maximum of four golfers from a single country.

After the top 15, the rankings consist of up to the top two eligible players per country, as long as that country does not already have at least two players in the top 15.

However, the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.
