Australian foreign minister comments on missing brothers in Mexico – WAMN News Online

The Australian Foreign Minister has spoken out following the news that two of the three bodies found by police in Mexico have been positively identified as two missing Western Australian brothers.

Yesterday it was announced that two of the three bodies found were identified as Jake and Callum Robinson, surfers from WA who had been missing since late April.

Foreign Minister and Senator, Penny Wong, commented on the ABC in regards to news of three arrests having been made in relation to the investigation.

“My first and most important point is I want to emphasise that my personal thoughts and the thoughts of all of us are with the families of the missing men,” she said.

“We are obviously deeply concerned, deeply worried.

“I can indicate that our embassy in Mexico, as well as the Australian Federal Police, are working in support of local authorities.

“That my Department is providing  consular support to the families concerned.”

The WA Premier Roger Cook also gave a brief comment following the recent developments.

“This is incredibly sad,” he said.

“The Robinson’s family must be really hurting and I think everyone in the community’s heart[s] go out to that family and friends.

“I know the Robinson’s are in Mexico at the moment as part of the very horrible task of identifying [and] bringing their kids home.

“Everyone in Western Australia is hurting as we see here from more aspects of this story, the violence that they were exposed to and of course, the loss of life.”

More to come.
