Tasmanian football history goes digital with new museum website

Hundreds of pieces of Tasmanian football memorabilia are now on permanent display for everyone to see – online.

The tasfootymuseum.com.au collection currently features heritage photos, jumpers, trophies and badges, with more to be added soon.

Run by the Tasmanian Australian Football History and Heritage Museum (TARHHM), the website was launched thanks to a $250,000 investment from the Tasmanian Government.

The catalogue focuses primarily on Australian Rules Football played in Tasmania at the highest level by Tasmanians and will also encompass the game played at community and social levels.

“Tassie has always punched well above its weight in the football arena and we have now successfully immortalised that legacy online,” Acting Minister for Sport and Events Nick Duigan said.

“The grant has already allowed the Tasmanian Australian Rules History and Heritage Museum to develop displays in libraries around the state but now the collection is online and available for anyone to browse.”
