Count Nikolai of Monpezat has made a surprise appearance at Australian Fashion Week 2024.
The Danish royal, who is the nephew of Queen Mary, was seen sitting front row at last night’s show, intently watching as the models walked past him.
He later shared a run-down of his chic outfit with GQ Australia.
“It’s Count Nikolai of Monpezat from Denmark here,” he shared excitedly, “I’m here for Australian Fashion Week at the Carriageworks!”
“I’m wearing this brown Venroy suit with my black Zenga boots, with my Georg Jensen jewellery,” he shared.
The royal is back Down Under after having lived here while studying at the University of Technology Sydney for an exchange semester last year.

During his stay here, he lived with his girlfriend Benedikte Thoustrup in Surry Hills to get a “a proper Aussie experience”.
He also made an appearance at last year’s Melbourne Cup, telling 9honey, “I’ve been looking forward to it ever since I arrived in Australia, so it’s three or four months in the making now,” he says.
Though it seems Nikolai no longer calls Australia home, likely having gone back to Denmark for further studies, his fashion roots have called him back.

The 24-year-old is a model in his own right, previously having walked the runway for London Fashion Week for Burberry and Paris Fashion Week for Dior.
Count Nikolai and his three siblings were stripped of their royal titles by Queen Margrethe in 2022, taking him from prince to count.
At the time, Queen Margrethe, 83, said the decision was made so Prince Joachim’s children would be “able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by” their royal titles.

Responding to this point, Nikolai told 9honey, “I think in the future I will be freer, but I’ve never felt limited before,
“So for me, as I mentioned before, it hasn’t changed anything yet. I think in the future it will make a difference.”
