Three Saints are ready to be brought back into the side for Sunday’s clash with Melbourne, while Essendon is set to unleash its top draftee in Dreamtime at the ‘G.
Plus, the Blues have been dealt yet another injury blow, this time to a key position player.

AFL ROUND 11 TEAM TIPS AND FIXTURE (all times AEST)
WESTERN BULLDOGS v SYDNEY SWANS
Thursday May 23, 7:30pm at Marvel Stadium
Bulldogs’ Round 10 side
B: L.Bramble, L.Jones, J.O’Donnell
HB: T.Duryea, A.Keath, B.Dale
C: B.Williams, A.Treloar, J.Harmes
HF: L.Vandermeer, A.Naughton, R.Garcia
F: S.Darcy, J.Ugle-Hagan, R.West
FOLL: T.English, M.Bontempelli – C, E.Richards
I/C: C.Daniel, L.Cleary, J.Freijah, H.Gallagher, J.Macrae
EMG: R.Lobb, A.Scott, A.Jones
Team Tips: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That was largely the plan last week, with Caleb Daniel replacing the injured Jason Johannisen as the Dogs’ only change. Coming off an inspired win over the Giants, you wouldn’t expect much, if any, tinkering again. Unless Johannisen’s hamstring issue is on the minor side, you’d expect him to miss again. The Dogs’ VFL team has a big win over the Giants, with Caleb Poulter (29 touches, two goals) and Ryley Sanders (24 disposals) putting their hands up for recalls. But Luke Beveridge must be pretty content with his 5-5 side right now off the back of two convincing wins. In great news for Tom Liberatore, the midfielder has been cleared to begin training after a string of concussions.
Swans’ Round 10 side
B: A.Francis, L.Melican, D.Rampe – C
HB: O.Florent, N.Blakey, H.Cunningham
C: E.Gulden, Ch.Warner, J.McInerney
HF: H.McLean, L.McDonald, T.Adams
F: W.Hayward, J.Amartey, T.Papley
FOLL: B.Grundy, I.Heeney, J.Rowbottom
I/C: B.Campbell, J.Lloyd, J.Jordon, S.Wicks, R.Fox
EMG: L.Parker, M.Roberts, J.Hamling
Team Tips: DefenderRobbie Fox was subbed out with a shoulder injury in the Swans’ dominant win over Carlton, and will likely see a stint on the sidelines. Tom McCartin will not play this weekend, but in good news he has no lingering concussion symptoms and should return after their bye. It’s hard to drop Aaron Francis after two strong games filling in the role. Otherwise, Matt Roberts should come back into the 23 after being rested to replace Fox. Luke Parker, who had 26 touches and nine tackles in the reserves, will have to wait a little longer for his senior reprieve after being referred straight to the VFL tribunal after a big hit last Friday night.

WALYALUP (FREMANTLE) v COLLINGWOOD
Friday May 24, 8:10pm at Optus Stadium
Dockers’ Round 10 side
B: B.Walker, A.Pearce – C, J.Draper
HB: J.Aish, L.Ryan, J.Clark
C: J.Sharp, A.Brayshaw, M.Johnson
HF: B.Banfield, S.Switkowski, M.Frederick
F: J.Treacy, J.Amiss, P.Voss
FOLL: L.Jackson, C.Serong, N.Fyfe
I/C: T.Emmett, H.Young, J.O’Meara, H.Chapman, M.Walters
EMG: N.Erasmus, C.Wagner, L.Reidy
Team Tips: A concussion to Michael Frederick is the Dockers’ only forced changed from their win over St Kilda, while Sean Darcy is set to return from a calf issue that’s sidelined him the last two games. It’s not exactly a like-for-like, with Patrick Voss the obvious one to make way if Justin Longmuir opts to swap out a tall. If that’s the case, Tom Emmett could come into the 22, while Neil Erasmus will also be pushing his case after strong form in the twos. The Dockers, whose WAFL affiliate Peel Thunder had a bye over the weekend, are otherwise well settled.
Magpies’ Round 10 side
B: B.Maynard, D.Moore – C, B.Frampton
HB: I.Quaynor, O.Markov, W.Hoskin-Elliott
C: S.Sidebottom, S.Pendlebury, J.Daicos
HF: P.Lipinski, N.Daicos, R.McInnes
F: F.Macrae, B.Hill, L.Schultz
FOLL: D.Cameron, J.Crisp, J.De Goey
I/C: J.Noble, J.Richards, L.Sullivan, H.Harrison, M.Cox
EMG: N.Kreuger, E.Allan, C.Dean
Team Tips: Bodies keep going down for the reigning premiers, but at least the wins keep coming. Former Pick 19 Ed Allan has been selected to make his AFL debut in home state Western Australia, while Category B rookie and former Victorian cricketer Wil Parker will amazingly make his debut just 109 days after his last game of cricket. Will Hoskin-Elliott (hamstring) and Reef McInnes (concussion) are the latest two casualties for the Magpies, while Craig McRae has ruled out Jordan De Goey due to an abdominal strain sustained against the Crows — not his ongoing groin soreness. In good news though, Brodie Mihocek (hamstring) and Beau McCreery (concussion) are potential inclusions if they get through a full week of training. If Mihocek doesn’t get up, the Pies may be inclined to bring in a tall – where you suspect Nathan Kreuger is at the front of the queue – given they’ve now lost basically all their aerial threats in attack. .

NORTH MELBOURNE v YARTAPUULTI (PORT ADELAIDE)
Saturday May 25, 1:45pm at Blundstone Arena
Kangaroos’ Round 10 side
B: A.Corr, C.Comben, L.McDonald – C
HB: Z.Fisher, H.Sheezel, M.Bergman
C: D.Tucker, L.Davies-Uniacke, B.Scott
HF: J.Stephenson, T.Powell, L.Shiels
F: P.Curtis, N.Larkey, C.Zurhaar
FOLL: T.Xerri, G.Wardlaw, J.Simpkin
I/C : T.Pink, C.Lazzaro, E.Ford, W.Dawson, C.Taylor
EMG: H.Greenwood, D.Stephens, B.Drury
Team Tips: Back to the drawing board for Alastair Clarkson and company after the Roos were dealt a 10th-straight loss. North was at least much more competitive on the weekend, so don’t expect the Roos to make six changes like last week. Miller Bergman hurt his hamstring, which could open the door for Riley Hardeman or Bigoa Nyuon to return to the senior side, while Kallan Dawson (ankle) could also be in the mix. Jy Simpkin will likely be right to go after being a late out with a quad issue. Colby McKercher’s return from a foot problem is less certain, but you’d expect the Roos take a conservative approach and manage the Pick 2 draftee until at least after their Round 12 bye.
Power’s Round 10 side
B: K.Farrell, E.Ratugolea, R.Burton
HB: M.Bergman, A.Aliir, D.Houston
C: T.Boak, O.Wines, W.Drew
HF: D.Byrne-Jones, T.Marshall, M.Georgiades
F: C.Rozee – C, C.Dixon, W.Rioli
FOLL: D.Visentini, J.Horne-Francis, Z.Butters
I/C: J.Mead, J.McEntee, B.Zerk-Thatcher, J.Sinn, J.Burgoyne
EMG: J.Sweet, F.Evans, T.Clurey
Team Tips: After only just escaping with a win over Hawthorn, there’s a bit for Ken Hinkley to ponder as Port prepares to welcome back star skipper Connor Rozee from a hamstring issue. Speaking on Tuesday, midfield coach Josh said that all things going well, Rozee would be “a lock” to play. Hinkley said he expects Ollie Wines to be available despite being subbed out against the Hawks with heart palpitations two years after a similar issue (that only sidelined him for one game). Veteran forward Charlie Dixon will bypass the trip to Tasmania, with Port Adelaide confirming the 33-year-old will be managed. Otherwise Josh Sinn hurt his collarbone in a big hip and shoulder from James Worpel, and has been listed to miss six weeks, while Lachie Jones should be available to return from a hamstring injury. There was a bye in the SANFL, but surely Jordon Sweet comes into calculations for five-gamer Dante Visentini ahead of a matchup against Tristan Xerri.
Port exposed? Power gifted extra 20s | 01:35
CARLTON v GOLD COAST SUNS
Saturday May 25, 1:45pm at Marvel Stadium
Blues’ Round 10 side
B: B.Kemp, J.Weitering, A.Cincotta
HB: C.Marchbank, M.McGovern, N.Newman
C: Z.Williams, P.Cripps – C, B.Acres
HF: O.Hollands, T.De Koning, E.Hollands
F: H.McKay, C.Curnow, M.Owies
FOLL: M.Pittonet, S.Walsh, M.Kennedy
I/C: J.Boyd, J.Carroll, O.Fantasia, C.Durdin, G.Hewett
EMG: L.Cowan, J.Binns, Le.Young
Team Tips: The Blues are now far from their best football, with part form and part injury to blame for their recent downhill trend. Jacob Weitering spent less than half of the game on field with a thigh issue, and subsequently didn’t train on Monday. Nonetheless, he is still a chance to play the Suns. Ruck Marc Pittonet has been ruled out of the clash with an additional finger injury, likely leaving Tom de Koning to handle ruck duties solo. Corey Durdin was extremely quiet last Friday night for just three disposals, as were Alex Cincotta and Orazio Fantasia. In better news, Adam Saad, Jesse Motlop, Sam Durdin and Lachie Fogarty are all labelled as ‘tests’ this week, and could be available for this Saturday’s match – a significant relief for the Carlton medical staff.
Suns’ Round 10 side
B: S.Collins, C.Ballard, J.Jeffrey
HB: S.Flanders, M.Rowell, M.Andrew
C: B.Fiorini, T.Miller – C, S.Clohesy
HF: B.Humphrey, T.Berry, L.Johnston
F: B.Long, B.King, J.Lukosius
FOLL: N.Moyle, N.Anderson, D.Swallow
I/C: A.Davies, B.Ainsworth, A.Sexton, B.Uwland, S.Day
EMG: N.Holman, J.Rogers, J.Walter
Team Tips: Despite the Suns’ huge win over Geelong, Damien Hardwick could still welcome back several inclusions if he chooses. Jarrod Witts and Nick Holman were two players who were managed that will likely come straight back in. Young guns Jed Walter and Jake Rogers may need to work a little harder for an instant recall, but Walter in particular quiet in recent weeks. On the flip side, there will be some unlucky players up for omission to make way for some, if not all of the aforementioned. Ned Moyle would be the unluckiest of the lot if he was dropped for Witts, having rucked very well last Thursday. Bodhi Uwland played one of his better games, but him and sub Alex Davies – who also stepped up when activated – will be vulnerable purely by the club’s strength and nearly non-existent injury list. The Suns confirmed on Tuesday that young gun Mac Andrew escaped serious injury to his lower leg after being subbed out last week, and is expected to line up against the Blues. Gold Coast’s reserves had a bye over the weekend with the club’s back-to-back matches in Darwin.

GEELONG v GWS GIANTS
Saturday May 25, 4:35pm at GMBHA Stadium
Cats’ Round 10 side:
B: J.Henry, Z.Tuohy, J.Kolodjashnij
HB: Z.Guthrie, T.Stewart – C, M.Holmes
C: O.Dempsey, B.Parfitt, M.Blicavs
HF: B.Close, G.Rohan, G.Miers
F: T.Stengle, S.Neale, O.Henry
FOLL: T.Conway, C.Guthrie, J.Bowes
I/C: M.O’Connor, T.Bruhn, T.Atkins, O.Mullin, J.Clark
EMG: M.Knevitt, C.O’Sullivan
Team Tips: The Cats will almost certainly welcome back star forward duo Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins for Saturday evening, after a stint on the sideline with concussion and management respectively. In addition to Hawkins, Rhys Stanley and Mitch Duncan were also managed and should return in a big boost for Chris Scott. The availability of Sam de Koning remains to be seen, after the key defender was withdrawn late from last Thursday night’s match against the Suns with hamstring soreness. Oisin Mullin, sub Jhye Clark and Mark O’Connor look the most likely to make way at the selection table should all four become available, while one of Toby Conway or Shannon Neale will likely be the fourth omission.
Giants’ Round 10 side:
B: C.Idun, S.Taylor, H.Himmelberg
HB: L.Whitfield, J.Buckley, H.Perryman
C: N.Haynes, T.Green, F.Callaghan
HF: B.Daniels, J.Riccardi, T.Bedford
F: T.Greene – C, J.Hogan, C.Stone
FOLL: K.Briggs, C.Ward, S.Coniglio
I/C: D.Jones, X.O’Halloran, J.Wehr, A.Cadman, H.Thomas
EMG: L.Keeffe, J.Peatling, R.Angwin
Team Tips: Having lost four of their last five matches, tension is beginning to build around the Giants’ weekly consistency – and new-found injuries are not helping their cause. Key defender Jack Buckley is set to miss two to three weeks with a calf strain, while young giant Darcy Jones has been sidelined for at least six weeks with an injury to his hamstring tendon. Sub Conor Stone was quiet up forward after replacing Jones, as was teammate Aaron Cadman. In the reserves, James Peatling kicked three goals from 25 disposals and continues to try command his place back in the side – while ruck Nick Madden again had notable impact around the ground for his 15 disposals, 24 hitouts and a goal. Backman Leek Aleer should be available out of concussion protocols, and could be a straight swap for Buckley in defence.

RICHMOND v ESSENDON
Saturday May 25, 7:40pm at the MCG
Tigers’ Round 10 side
B: B.Miller, N.Broad, T.Young
HB: N.Vlastuin, T.Brown, D.Rioli
C: H.Ralphsmith, M.Pickett, K.McIntosh
HF: R.Mansell, S.Bolton, T.Sonsie
F: M.Lefau, D.Martin, N.Balta
FOLL: T.Nankervis – C, D.Prestia, T.Dow
I/C: J.Short, S.Green, K.McAuliffe, M.Coulthard, N.Cumberland
EMG: K.Smith, J.Koschitzke, S.Ryan
Team Tips: Just when we all thought it couldn’t get any worse for the Tigers, it did. With Rhyan Mansell ruled out with concussion and Mykelti Lefau possibly missing, it means the Tigers could have – as of right now – just 24 players fit. Dylan Grimes (back) is now listed as ‘TBA’ by Richmond, leaving Jacob Koschitzke, Samson Ryan and Kaleb Smith are the only three players unaffected by injury available, with Smith a potential replacement for Mansell. Having said that, Richmond have labelled Liam Baker,Sam Banks and James Trezise all as available for this weekend, with most, if not all expected to play. As a result of all their injuries, there isn’t much debate over the form of players in the side and their vulnerability at the selection table. For what it’s worth if they don’t have the 25 fit players required to fill out a squad, they’ll have to name an injured player as an emergency. Yep. It’s that bad.
Bombers’ Round 10 side
B: D.Heppell, B.McKay, J.Laverde
HB: N.Martin, M.Redman, A.McGrath
C: M.Guelfi, A.Perkins, J.Kelly
HF: S.Durham, K.Langford, J.Stringer
F: H.Jones, P.Wright, A.Davey Jnr
FOLL: T.Goldstein, J.Caldwell, Z.Merrett – C
I/C: B.Hobbs, N.Hind, J.Gresham, N.Cox, D.Shiel
EMG: N.Bryan, N.Caddy
Team Tips: The Bombers look set to receive a huge defensive boost on Saturday night, with Jordan Ridley successfully returning from injury in the VFL over the weekend. Fellow defender Zach Reid has also had multiple games in the reserves back from injury, and is suddenly a surplus with their fiter injury list. Tall forward Harrison Jones will miss a week for his sling tackle on North’s Zac Fisher, which has opened the door for the club to unleash top draftee Nate Caddy for his debut — the club confirmed on Wednesday. Sub Dylan Shiel was a late inclusion for Darcy Parish, who has since been confirmed by the club to miss three weeks with a calf strain in a significant blow.
Never move a winner – Sam’s fatal error | 03:35
HAWTHORN v BRISBANE LIONS
Sunday May 26, 1:10pm at Marvel Stadium
Hawks’ Round 10 side
B: J.Impey – C, S.Frost, J.Weddle
HB: K.Amon, E.Phillips, J.Serong
C: S.Mitchell, C.Nash, B.Hardwick
HF: W.Day, C.Macdonald, N.Watson
F: J.Ginnivan, L.Breust, M.Chol
FOLL: L.Meek, J.Newcombe, D.Moore
I/C: C.Mackenzie, C.Dear, M.D’Ambrosio, J.Worpel, C.Jiath
EMG: B.Macdonald, M.Ramsden, F.Maginness
Team Tips: An unfathomable last-gasp loss to Port Adelaide has completely derailed Hawthorn’s plans of remarkably jumping to 13th place on the ladder – but they should still be contempt with their side. Seamus Mitchell was quiet with six disposals for the afternoon, but would be slightly unlucky to lose his place. Skipper James Sicily and Henry Hustwaite are expected to be available from their respective injuries, with the former an especially welcome inclusion if fit. The Box Hill Hawks had a bye over the weekend, but Finn Maginness was named emergency for the senior side and could be brought in to combat one of Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko, Lachie Neale or Hugh McCluggage.
Lions’ Round 10 side
B: D.Zorko, J.Payne, R.Lester
HB: D.Wilmot, H.Andrews, C.McKenna
C: J.Fletcher, C.Rayner, J.Berry
HF: C.Cameron, E.Hipwood, H.McCluggage
F: L.Morris, J.Daniher, C.Ah Chee
FOLL: O.McInerney, J.Dunkley, L.Neale – C
I/C: K.Lohmann, H.Sharp, S.Brain, B.Reville, N.Answerth
EMG: J.Prior, D.Fort, D.Joyce
Team Tips: There’s no need for any unforced changes at the Lions, after smoking Richmond for the league’s first 100-point victory of the year. Eric Hipwood will miss the match against the Hawks through suspension, perhaps opening the door for emergency Darcy Fort to re-join for the side for the clash. Gun forward Zac Bailey could be ready for a return also, with hope he has completely overcome the ankle injury he sustained in Round 5. In a shock to no one, Jarryd Lyons had 34 disposals, eight inside 50’s and seven clearances in the VFL’s close win over Casey – at this point praying for an open spot in the side’s midfield. Deven Robertson returned successfully from a shoulder injury with 25 disposals and a goal, and could also be considered for a call up.
Fagan ‘feels sorry’ for Adam Yze | 05:58
NARRM (MELBOURNE) v EURO-YROKE (ST KILDA)
Sunday May 26, 3:20pm at the MCG
Demons’ Round 10 side
B: B.Howes, S.May, T.Rivers
HB: J.McVee, T.McDonald, J.Lever
C: J.Billings, C.Oliver, C.Windsor
HF: A.Neal-Bullen, B.Fritsch, K.Pickett
F: K.Chandler, H.Petty, S.McAdam
FOLL: M.Gawn – C, J.Viney, C.Petracca
I/C : C.Salem, J.Bowey, T.Sparrow, T.Woewodin, B.Brown
EMG: A.Tomlinson, T.Fullarton, K.Tholstrup
Team Tips: It was a wakeup call out west for the Demons, who are now stuck in the middle of the top eight pack – much to their dislike. Jake Lever’s concussion and knee injuries have created one forced change for Simon Goodwin and may provide Adam Tomlinson with his first match at the top level since Opening Round. Channel 7 reports Lever will undergo knee surgery for a nagging issue the star defender has been battling, which will sideline him for up to a month. Tall Harrison Petty was back to his quiet ways, and once again looks in need of a spell in the reserves. Jacob van Rooyen should return from concussion, and will just need to pass contact-related progressions. In the reserves last Saturday, Andy Moniz-Wakefield was one of the best afield against Brisbane with his 29 disposals and six inside 50’s. Tom Fullarton didn’t play any football on the weekend, and is seemingly close to making his club debut.
Saints’ Round 10 side
B: J.Battle, D.Howard, C.Wilkie
HB: R.Bonner, J.Sinclair, N.Wanganeen-Milera
C: C.Sharman, P.Dow, M.Wood
HF: D.Wilson, B.Hill, L.Henry
F: M.Owens, M.King, A.Caminiti
FOLL: R.Marshall, J.Steele – C, M.Windhager
I/C: Z.Jones, L.Collard, M.Phillipou, J.Webster, B.Paton
EMG: A.Hastie, H.Garcia, T.Campbell
Team Tips: The Saints are in dire need of a shake-up to their line-up, after another dismal match – this time against Fremantle. Jack Higgins will return from suspension, while Brad Crouch and Dan Butler have also been named available for selection by the club. Mattaes Phillipou had just two disposals well into the last quarter, and despite Ross Lyon’s best efforts to give him continued AFL opportunity, simply must return to the VFL. Forward Lance Collard remarkably had just 41% time on ground on Saturday night, perhaps insinuating Ross Lyon doesn’t have a whole lot of faith in his current output. Fellow forward Cooper Sharman was subbed out in the third quarter for fringe veteran Zak Jones after a quiet game. On the flip side, the Saints had a plethora of players perform in their VFL thumping of a depleted Richmond on Sunday. Emergency Hugo Garcia had a field day for Sandringham, grabbing 29 disposals, 11 tackles, 10 inside 50’s, eight clearances and a goal, and deserves to return to the senior side.Crouch amassed 38 disposals in his first match back from a knee injury, while the omitted Jack Hayes kicked two goals from his 18 touches in a solid response to his dropping. Hunter Clark also looks ready to return to AFL level after his third consecutive game in the VFL – this time kicking two goals and racking up 25 disposals.
Reid makes Eagles a destination club? | 04:31
KUWARNA (ADELAIDE) v WAALITJ MARAWAR (WEST COAST)
Sunday May 65, 4:40pm at Adelaide Oval
Crows’ Round 10 side
B: B.Smith, J.Butts, C.Jones
HB: L.Nankervis, M.Keane, M.Michalanney
C: M.Hinge, J.Soligo, J.Dawson – C
HF: L.Sholl, T.Walker, J.Rachele
F: E.Himmelberg, D.Fogarty, I.Rankine
FOLL: R.O’Brien, R.Laird, B.Keays
I/C: M.Crouch, N.McHenry, L.Murphy, B.Cook, W.Hamill
EMG: C.Burgess, S.Berry, J.Borlase
Team Tips: It was heartbreak yet again for Crows fans against Collingwood, with another close contest falling the way of the opposition. There really weren’t many passengers at the MCG last Saturday, but star Izak Rankine will miss the next few weeks after a hamstring injury in the dying stages of the match. Forward Elliott Himmelberg will also miss the clash with a undergoing surgery on a fractured cheekbone, with the club hopeful he will only miss one week. There’s a chance Luke Pedlar makes a remarkable return from a shoulder injury, after reports earlier in the season that be may not play again in 2024. If Pedlar doesn’t get through the main training on Thursday, sub Ned McHenry would likely come into the starting 22 – resembling somewhat of a straight swap for Rankine. There was no SANFL played on the weekend due to the state game between South Australia and Western Australia, but Chris Burgess – Himmelberg’s potential replacement – and Sam Berry would be very close to recalls in the case of a surprise second injury.
Eagles’ Round 10 side
B: A.Witherden, T.Barrass, B.Hough
HB: T.Cole, J.McGovern, L.Duggan – C
C: C.Chesser, H.Reid, J.Hunt
HF: L.Edwards, J.Waterman, J.Cripps
F: L.Ryan, J.Darling, J.Williams
FOLL: B.Williams, T.Kelly, R.Ginbey
I/C: D.Sheed, J.Jones, J.Rotham, R.Maric, T.Dewar
EMG: A.Gaff, H.Edwards, J.Culley
Team Tips: The Eagles pulled off a remarkable heist on Sunday night against Melbourne, clipping the 2021 premiers by 35 points at Optus Stadium. With no injuries coming out of the match, their team will only get stronger for their clash in Adelaide. Gun Elliot Yeo is expected to be available this weekend after a groin injury, although Jack Petruccelle will miss at least another week with a low-grade syndesmosis injury he suffered against Collingwood in Round 9. Yeo’s likely inclusion could leave Luke Edwards vulnerable, after a quiet match against the Demons before he was subbed out in the last quarter. His sub replacement Tyrell Dewar could instead fall victim, however the 20-year-old has been commendable during his time on-field in the last two weeks. GWS recruit Matt Flynn is set to play his first game in Eagles colours this weekend, albeit through the WAFL given his severely limited pre-season.
