PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia overcame a shaky start to book his spot in the Australian Open final on Saturday (June 15).
World No. 8 Zii Jia clawed his way back a game down to win 10-21, 21-15, 21-10 in 56 minutes against world No. 37 Lee Chia-hao of Taiwan at the Quaycentre in Sydney Olympic Park.
It was his third win in six meetings.
He will play either Japan’s Kodai Naraoka or Taiwan’s Lin Chun-yi in the title-match on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the campaign ended for mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing when they bowed out 11-21, 11-21 to China’s Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin in the semi-finals.
Men’s doubles duo Choong Hon Jian-Mohd Haikal Nazri also crashed out in the semis after losing 18-21, 9-21 to top seeds He Jiting-Ren Xiangyu of China.
