Footlocker has been announced as the new Major Sponsor of the Australian men’s national basketball team, The Boomers.
With a passion for basketball and stylish footwear, fans will soon see the Foot Locker logo prominently displayed on the official game day shorts of the Boomers.
The debut of this partnership will coincide with the Ford BALLIN’24 series at John Cain Arena in Melbourne in July, a precursor to the Boomers’ exhibition matches against powerhouse teams like the USA and Serbia in Abu Dhabi before the Olympics.
Foot Locker’s brand exposure will be extensive, including on-court signage during national broadcasts and providing exciting prizes for halftime contests during marquee games like Boomers vs. China. Furthermore, Foot Locker will throw its support behind the upcoming Boomers and Opals Super Camp in July, offering special deals and rewards for the 500 camp participants. This Super Camp serves as a crucial platform for nurturing budding talent and instilling a passion for basketball in the next generation of players.
In a bid to engage directly with basketball enthusiasts and Foot Locker clientele, selected Boomers players are set to make special appearances at the Foot Locker store at QV, Melbourne on Wednesday, June 26th, for exclusive meet-and-greet sessions.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, Boomers point guard Josh Giddey remarked, “Teaming up with Foot Locker feels like a homecoming for me. As a young player, Foot Locker was where I geared up for game day, and now, as we set our sights on victory, they are right beside us. I look forward to showcasing our fresh game day gear, engaging with our passionate Foot Locker fans, and witnessing the positive impact of this collaboration on the basketball community nationwide.”
Echoing this sentiment, Jason Smith, Basketball Australia’s EGM of High Performance, commented, “We are thrilled to have Foot Locker lend their support to the Boomers program, further enhancing their longstanding contributions to Australian basketball. With an exciting year ahead of us, our achievements on the court are made possible with invaluable partners like Foot Locker backing us every step of the way.”
Foot Locker’s affiliation with the Boomers marks its latest stride in the basketball realm, reinforcing its role in promoting and nurturing the vibrant hoops culture across the country. This partnership seamlessly complements Foot Locker’s steadfast support of Basketball Australia’s National Championships across various age categories as well as its ongoing engagement with leagues like NBL1, WNBL, NBL, and the globally renowned streetball extravaganza, Summer Jam.
Brendan Graham, Senior Director of Marketing for Asia Pacific, reaffirmed Foot Locker’s commitment to enriching basketball culture in Australia, stating, “Foot Locker remains dedicated to fueling the enthusiasm, energy, and vibrancy of basketball at all competition levels and within communities nationwide. Our basketball partnerships underscore our commitment to providing the right products and services to athletes throughout their journey, from grassroots junior events to elite professional levels. The Boomers squad, comprising a mix of local talent and NBA stars, exemplifies the pinnacle of this journey. We are proud to collaborate with Basketball Australia in celebrating basketball’s influence from local courts to the global stage.”
