‘Important In This Format To Have Options: Australia’s Mitchell Marsh Reflects Over His Bowling

Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh spoke about his bowling and said that he can bowl if the situation demands against Bangladesh when the two sides lock horns in their 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 clash on June 21. While taking part in the pre-match press conference, Marsh stated that it is important for his team to look at all the options.

Before Australia’s Group stage game against Namibia on June 12, Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald also spoke about Marsh’s fitness for their T20 World Cup games after having just recuperated from an injury.

Earlier, the Australian all-rounder sustained a hamstring injury during the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 while playing for Delhi Capitals and as a result, he was ruled out from the remainder of the season.

“We’re very hopeful that he will be back ready to bowl in matches. I’d say the likelihood of that against Namibia is very slim, potentially increasing into Scotland, and then I think you should have a clear run at the Super 8s and be able to bowl there. The assumption there is that we qualify and as I said, Namibia first thing and then we can start to work out what it looks like for the Super 8s and beyond,” McDonald said.

On the other side, the Australian captain is yet to show his finesse as a bowler in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

“I’ll be available to bowl, yeah. With the line-up that we’ve got, I don’t really necessarily see a need for me to bowl, but I think it’s really important in this format to have options, and we’re blessed with plenty of those,” Marsh said.

In the upcoming fixtures of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, Australia has a few high intense games as they will play against Afghanistan and India after the Bangladesh clash.
