Richmond Football Club has been named among the best organisations to work for in Australia.
Richmond Football Club is delighted to have been announced as an Excellence Awardee and finalist in the Employer of Choice category ahead of the Australian HR Awards Gala, which will be held in September.
The winner of the category will be recognised by the Australian HR Awards as the best organisation to work for in the country with 100-999 employees.
Judged on leadership, engagement, communication, and employee benefits, the Club stood out among a national field.
Richmond was commended for its dynamic work environment, care for its people, and one-of-a-kind working culture that maintains a foundation of support and connectedness that supports high performance.
The Club’s Staff Engagement Survey results were considered as part of the application. They showed strong scores in leadership, particularly confidence in leaders and trust in their ability to demonstrate that people were important to the success of the organisation.
Richmond’s leadership, on a broader scale, also contributed to the Club’s nomination, namely its key areas of corporate social responsibility and use of its platform to drive change and inclusion among the community.
The Club is Australia’s only elite sporting team with an ‘Elevate’ status Reconciliation Action Plan. It is also in the second iteration of a Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, which aligns strategic priorities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Richmond was also the first Club in the AFL to publicly detail how it would deliver on its commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 through the launch of an Environmental Sustainability Action Plan.
A whopping 97 percent of employees stated anonymously that they would recommend Richmond Football Club “as a great place to work” when completing the survey.
Richmond’s All Roles Flex Policy, which allows staff to perform without having to be in one space or required to adapt to a single mode of operation, is another celebrated aspect of the Club’s working style.
As a professional sporting team, Richmond also offers outstanding employee benefits that drive celebration and connection, including staff trips, such as a five-day Tasmania trek, ticketing for staff and their families and hosting staff at celebration events, such as the annual Jack Dyer Medal.
Richmond General Manager – Human Resources, Sec Maljanek said the Club took great pride in its culture.

Richmond representatives will attend the Awards night in September.
