The Australian tennis pair of Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson will be playing for the Wimbledon 2024 men’s doubles title when they face Great Britain’s Henry Patten and Finland’s Harri Heliövaara in the Grand Slam final.
The Max Purcell-Jordan Thompson vs Henry Patten-Harri Heliövaara Wimbledon 2024 men’s doubles final will be at the All England Club in the wee hours of Sunday, as per Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). The tennis match will be live streamed and broadcast in Australia.
Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson swept aside the men’s doubles top seeds to book their spot in the final. The Australian pair took just 71 minutes to beat Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-final on Thursday.
Partnering fellow Australian Matthew Ebden, Purcell won the Wimbledon men’s doubles title back in 2022.
This will be his second Wimbledon final appearance and the fourth grand slam final appearance of his career after reaching the Australian Open final twice. Meanwhile, Thompson has reached a Grand Slam final for the first time.
Seeded 15th at Wimbledon 2024, Purcell-Thompson advanced to the final after dropping just one set in their five matches so far.
They won their round of 16 clash against Australia’s John Patrick Smith and his German partner Andreas Mies in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 and only dropped a set in the quarter-finals in their 6-4, 6-7(8-10), 6-3 win against the all-Argentine pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez.
Their opponents in the final, Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara are unseeded. However, they beat experienced Queen’s Club champions Neal Skupski of Great Britain and Michael Venus of New Zealand 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) in their semi-final match.
