Boomers suffer injury scare ahead of Paris campaign

The Boomers eased past Puerto Rico 90-75 but were left concerned by an injury scare to Dante Exum in their pre-Olympics exhibition game in Orleans, France on Saturday morning (AEST).

Driving to the paint late in the first quarter, Exum collided with with teammate Duop Reath and fell to the floor, in a suspected neck injury.

He stayed grounded for some time and sat out the remainder of the game, after being assessed on court.

The Boomers will want to take every precaution with Exum, considering the Mavericks star’s injury history, a week out from the Boomers’ Paris Olympics opener.

On a positive note for the team, Josh Giddey showed poise in leading on the scoresheet with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Five Boomers made double figures, with Patty Mills grabbed 15 points, building momentum as the tournament draws near.

Jock Landale was solid once more, racking up 12 points while Joe Ingles had 11 and Josh Green 10.

After securing a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets, Jack McVeigh scored nine points off the bench.

Dyson Daniels was strong on the defensive end, while adding five points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.

The Boomers face France in their final warm up game on Monday morning (5am AEST), taking on NBA stars Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert, before they begin their Olympic campaign on July 27 against Spain.
