You will literally never guess Rory McIlroy’s favorite Olympic sport to watch – Australian Golf Digest

Rory McIlroy’s feelings about Olympic golf continued to evolve this week. His feelings about another sport in the Summer Games, however, have stayed the same.

You actually might guess what McIlroy’s favorite (other) Olympic sport is had you read this post from three years ago that we’re updating. But you’d have no chance if you didn’t read that. Anyway, on Tuesday, Rory revealed that he is still a huge fan of . . . dressage. Yep, dressage. Told you that you’d never guess.

“The one thing that’s on tonight that I would love to go the one thing I’ve always wanted to go and see is dressage,” McIlroy said back in 2021 at the Tokyo games. “Always. I just, I it’s mesmerizing and it’s on tonight at like 7:30. I’ll watch it on TV. I just think, I watch it once every few years, obviously and it’s like, I don’t know, it’s just, it’s mesmerizing and it’s really cool. I don’t know.”

And here was McIlroy filling out a Q&A board ahead of this week’s Olympic men’s golf tournament in Paris:

Doubling down on dressage. Wow.

Apologies to the equestrian world, but we’re really not sure what dressage is. Other than the fact it involves horses. Let’s turn to Wikipedia to learn more:

Dressage is a form of horse riding performed in exhibition and competition, as well as an art sometimes pursued solely for the sake of mastery.

Yeah . . . still don’t get it. This is a lot more difficult to explain than “Hatless Rory.” Let’s take another stab at it:

As an equestrian sport defined by the International Equestrian Federation, dressage is described as “the highest expression of horse training” where “horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements.”

Oh, boy. Can someone get Rory McIlroy back in the media center? We still have a lot of questions.
