Live: Boomers face knockout clash with Serbia, Melissa Wu and Ellie Cole dive for gold

Good evening! Jeremy Story Carter here, thrilled to be joining my colleagues on the live blog tonight and into the morning.

I’m particularly excited/anxious about the Boomers semifinal against Serbia, which as Jon Healy says below, tips off from 10.30pm AEST.

In the meantime, we’ve had a result in the first of the Men’s Basketball quarterfinals. Germany have downed Greece 76-63, despite the best efforts of superstar Giannis  Antetokounmpo.

The ‘Greek Freak’ scored a game-high 20 points but a more complete team performance from a confident Germany comfortably accounted for them in the end.

Germany will play the winner of Canada vs France (what a match-up that’ll be).

If that Boomers can somehow take care of reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokić and Serbia (and that is a massive ‘If’), they would in all likelihood face the USA, who play Brazil in their quarterfinals.

Lots to look forward to
