Olympics schedule day 16: Opals hit the court in the last day of competition before the closing ceremony

The 2024 Summer Olympics are about to wrap up in Paris, France, but there’s still one day of competition left to go.

Australia’s women’s basketball team — the Opals — will be playing for a bronze medal on day 16 of the Games. 

There’s also a bunch of other gold medal matches happening. 

Because of the time difference, it’ll be Sunday night in Australia when many of those events kick off.

The closing ceremony is also happening, with the spectacle set to kick off at 5am AEST on Monday.

Here’s what’s on the schedule for the last day of the Paris Olympics.

What are some of the key events Australians are competing in on day 16?

  • 4pm: Women’s marathon: Sinead Diver, Genevieve Gregson, Jessica Stenson 

Basketball

  • 7:30pm: Women’s bronze medal game: Belgium v Australia

Cycling

  • 7pm: Women’s omnium: Georgia Baker
  • 7:29pm: Men’s keirin quarter-finals: Matthew Glaetzer, Matthew Richardson

The Olympics will be broadcast free-to-air on Channel Nine and 9Gem.

The station’s streaming service 9Now will also offer more than 40 live sports channels.
