Golfers flock to Wycheproof Tournament l Australian Rural & Regional News

Wycheproof Golf Club hosted its Annual Tournament the weekend just gone. Fantastic weather brought out good numbers on both Friday and Sunday, over 120 golfers for the 2 days.

The club’s dedicated greenskeepers got the course in beautiful condition, particularly the 12th fairway, which received special treatment from a new groundsman.

Big thank you to the ladies’ committee for the fantastic food over the whole tournament. The club very much appreciates all who travelled from near and far to support the event and a huge thank you to sponsors Wycheproof BP and McLennan’s Bulk Fuel for making it all possible.

The tournament consisted of Men’s & Ladies’ 4bbb on Friday and Men’s & Ladies’ stroke on Sunday.

Sunday’s event was held in conjunction with the Kara Kara Golf Association Champion of Champions, Junior Champion and Men’s Shield Events.

Friday 4BBB results

Men’s “A” grade winner, Dick McLennan and Greg Robinson, 44 points on countback; Men’s “A” grade runner-up, Grant Humbert and Darren Carnie, 44 points.

“B” grade winner, Joel Turner and John Grant, 43 points; “B” grade runner-up, Grant Allan and Paul Bagley, 42 points.

Better 9, Mark McLennan and Joel Turner; Longest Drive, Corey Jones; Best 2nd shot, George Turner.

Ladies 4BBB Results Winner

Gill Fawcett and Jacinta Miller, 47 points; runner-up, Lyn Boyle and Ruth Nunn, 43 points.

Better 9, Maureen Brennan and Sue-Anne Beattie; Longest Drive, Sue-Anne Beattie; Best 2nd shot, Heather Hogan.

Congratulations to Andrew Kane from Boort, who won the Champion of Champions again and Hugo Warne from Culgoa for winning the Junior Championship.

The Scratch Shield was won by St Arnaud, second Wedderburn and third Wycheproof.

The Nett Shield was won by Wedderburn, 2nd St Arnaud and 3rd Sea Lake.
