A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly stabbing another man who was found with chest wounds in a Gold Coast shopping centre bathroom.
Raymond Wilkinson, 42, was allegedly stabbed in the chest during an altercation with another man at Welch Street, Southport at around 12.20pm on Friday.
Mr Wilkinson then stumbled to the nearby Australia Fair shopping centre before collapsing on a public bathroom floor.
He was discovered by a member of the public who called emergency services.
While Mr Wilkinson underwent emergency surgery on his chest wounds, police launched a wide-scale search for his alleged attacker, eventually arresting a 43-year-old man at the Gold Coast suburb of Miami late on Friday night.
He was charged with grievous bodily harm, possessing a relevant substance and possessing drug utensils and was remanded in custody to face Southport Magistrates Court on September 10.

The victim was discovered clinging to life before he had surgery in hospital and is subsequently in a stable condition

The location is across the road from the Gold Coast Show, which has drawn thousands of people to the Broadwater Parklands amid 31C temperatures.
In March this year a young woman was stabbed at the Pacific Fair shopping centre on the corner of Hooker Boulevard and Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach.
The woman aged in her 20s, was discovered with two stab wounds.
There have also been serious incidents involving knives at shopping centres in Melbourne and Sydney, including the horrific death of six people at Westfield Bondi Junction in April.
