A unique sports bonanza will take place in Las Vegas in early March next year when the Canberra Raiders, New Zealand Warriors, Cronulla Sharks and Penrith Panthers, along with Super League sides Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves, and Australia’s Jillaroos and England, descend on the party capital of the world along with tens of thousands of fans.
Golf Australia magazine’s Senior Writer, Matt Cleary, will be one of them. Matt has hosted golf tours though Ireland, Scotland, England, China, Singapore, New Zealand and across Australia and played everywhere from Tahiti to Tara Iti.
Around the fun of the four-day footy festival, featuring a Nines tournament, a Fan Fest and a Talent Combine, all culminating in an epic quadruple-header at Allegiant Stadium with an estimated 50,000 fans, Matt and his tour will be enjoying some of the great Nevada desert golf.
The hotel’s quite nice, too.

A day after arriving in Las Vegas and checking into the famous Bellagio Hotel (more on it shortly), you’ll be whisked into a private coach to the famous Wolf Creek. Check it on the Google once you’re done here but, for now, imagine … standing on a small patch of grass, 11 storeys above the desert floor. The sky turns a deep orange as the sun slides from view. You look around and see nothing but red-rock canyon walls, glistening waterfalls and lush, green fairways.
Wolf Creek is all dramatic elevation changes and breathtaking views; it’s an experience. It is nothing short of spectacular. It sits in the aptly named Paradise Canyon and has, courtesy of its incredible eye candy, arrived with a bullet on many a golfer’s “bucket list”.
Day three on tour, you’ll tee it up at the TPC Las Vegas golf course (previously TPC at The Canyons), which from 1996-2006 hosted the PGA Tour event, the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open. “Desert elegance” best describes TPC Las Vegas, which flows through the canyons and arroyos of northwest Las Vegas.

This would be an apt description, too, for the third course on the rota, Cascata – yet it’s even more spectacular again. Soaring nearly 1000 metres above the Las Vegas desert Valley amid the foothills of the River Mountain Range, Cascata offers a breathtaking backdrop for golf.
Tour-calibre caddies, world-class practice facilities, delicious food and beverage offerings and personalised service round out the Cascata experience – all just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip.

GAME DAY
After a leisurely and full American breakfast and/or brunch – we like the Vegas Omelette at Sadelle’s in the Bellagio – don your NRL supporter gear and join the crew for a corporate function with food and beverages.
Then, along with nearly 50,000 fans, make your way to Allegiant Stadium, where you’ll take up your Elite Category seat and enjoy food and beverages in a private box for four games of the greatest game of all, rugby league.
Included in your ticket will be: exclusive access to a pre-match corporate function; an Elite Category Ticket on the halfway line in a private box; food and beverage package all-event; exclusive Las Vegas Rugby League Merchandise Pack.

FUN DAY
Sunday is nominally a free day, but if you’d like to play another round of golf, this can be arranged. Other things to do in Las Vegas on a Sunday include: shows and performances, including the famous Cirque du Soleil’s “O” show; ATV driving on desert tracks; kayaking on the Colorado River; shooting an Uzi in a firing range; eating exciting chilli dishes; seeing the Grand Canyon; seeing the Grand Canyon in a helicopter; seeing Hoover Dam; tasting wine; drinking beer; hitting balls at Top Golf Las Vegas; getting married by Elvis; probably find a casino or two.
STAY
For six nights you’ll stay in the famous and luxurious Bellagio Hotel, a captivating destination offering an unparalleled experience. From the moment you step into the lobby, you will be greeted with palatial grandeur.
