Travis Head is enjoying a well-deserved break from cricket as he spends time with his family ahead of Australia’s upcoming Test series against India.

After a busy schedule for the past year, Head shared his thoughts on balancing cricket and family life, saying the time off will help him refresh mentally and physically before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

What did Travis Head say about taking a break for family?

Head, who has spent much of the past year travelling for various cricket events, is currently on paternity leave. With his wife expecting their second child, Head highlighted spending quality time at home.

He acknowledged that the busy cricket schedule often takes him away from his family, and now is a chance to be there for them.

“I want to provide for my family, I want to play with my mates and I want to enjoy what I’m doing. If I bat every day, it will become boring. I’m not built like Marnus or Smithy who can bat day-in and day-out,” Travis Head told Cricket.com.au website.

Though he is taking a break, Head feels the time away from constant batting will benefit his game. He explained that he plays better after taking short breaks from the sport.

Head believes that time away will keep him hungry for runs when he returns to the nets closer to the Test series.

“I’ve been batting a fair bit and I don’t need it… Over the years, I’ve worked out I play better when I’ve had a little bit of a spell from batting,” he added.

Regarding his position in the team, Head is flexible about where he bats. With Steve Smith returning to the middle-order and Cameron Green out due to injury, the opening position alongside Usman Khawaja remains uncertain.

Head is prepared to bat wherever the team needs him, stating that he is not concerned about his batting spot as long as he is part of the Australian team.

“I couldn’t care less if I bat from one to seven, or even at nine. I just want to play in the Australian cricket team,” he concluded.
