Australian Bananas has Banana Gym Pass, a new marketing campaign that will provide Australian consumers access to a free gym session on National Banana Day, 16 October 2024.
By purchasing a banana from any local supermarket or grocer, gym goers can present a banana as their Banana Gym Pass and enjoy access to a free workout at over 350 participating gyms across the country.
Australian Bananas grower, Blaise Cini, welcomed the initiative to encourage Aussies to fuel with bananas and get active.
“As a banana grower, we’re excited that Australians across the nation will be enjoying our bananas as a gym snack after gaining free access with a Banana Gym Pass on National Banana Day,” said Cini.
“We hope that this initiative will keep the nation active and nourished. Bananas are packed with nutrients that are ideal to consume before or after a workout.”
The campaign aims to help motivate consumers to get active on National Banana Day, as new data reveals 17mn Australians who do not have a gym membership are considering getting one, and nearly half of Australians without a gym membership (46 per cent) are considering signing up ahead of spring and summer seasons.
Banana Gym Pass will connect a vast network of gyms across the country such as Goodlife Health Clubs, Fitness First, Zap Fitness, Club Lime and Viva Leisure to connect those who don’t have memberships with a free opportunity to try a gym.
Andy Chamoun, executive general manager at Fitness First, said Banana Gym Pass will transform the mid-week workout into a fun event open to all.
“Banana Gym Pass is turning National Banana Day into a fitness frenzy! Here at Fitness First, we share that passion, with over 24 years of experience in the Australian fitness industry, we’re proud to partner with an initiative that’s as passionate about getting Aussies active as we are,” said Chamoun.
“National Banana Day is the perfect opportunity to peel back the layers of excuses and experience the fun and camaraderie of working out with others. Join us for a day of free classes and floor training, and let’s get bananas about fitness together.”
