Toddler in mum’s arms assaulted by stranger at Perth shopping centre

A toddler has been struck by a stranger as the child was being carried in her mother’s arms inside a Western Australian shopping centre this afternoon.
The shocking and senseless act unfolded at an East Victoria Park shopping centre, in south-eastern Perth.
Distressing CCTV captured the attack on the mother and her two-year-old daughter at an entrance to the centre.

It shows them being approached by a woman who lashes out before fleeing.

Staff working in the surrounding shops say it all happened incredibly quickly, one only hearing a scream from the mother, as nearby shoppers rushed to help.

The little girl has been left with facial injuries, as well as the mother and daughter being left shaken and scared by the incident.

The woman accused of the attack has not been found as yet and is described as having a medium build, a bleached shaved head, wearing a pink singlet and grey shorts. (9News)

She’s described as having a medium build and a shaved head, and was wearing a pink singlet and grey shorts.

Police are asking anyone who recognises the woman or who witnessed anything in the area at the time to come forward.
