MILESTONE
 
Inspirational leader and former captain Alicia Eva is set to play her 75th AFLW game on Sunday against Port Adelaide. One of the most influential AFLW players in the club’s history, Eva will become the first GIANT to reach the 75 AFLW game milestone. A GIANTS Life Member, Eva captained the club for five seasons before stepping down from the role at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Joining the club in 2018 following a season with Collingwood, Eva has been an instrumental force both on and off the field for the GIANTS ever since. Named vice-captain in her first season, Eva was later crowned the Gabrielle Trainor Medallist and named in the All-Australian team. A tough, hard-running midfielder for most of her career, Eva moved into a new role up forward this season where her high footy IQ and her smarts around goal have been on full display. Eva’s on-field play in addition to her leadership and commitment to the women’s game has solidified her status as one of the league’s most admired players.

INDIGENOUS ROUND

The contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls to Australian football and the broader community are being celebrated across round nine and 10 of the NAB 2024 AFLW Season.

The theme for Indigenous Round this season is Spirit Strong, Game On, which recognises the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s traditions, enduring spirit, and ongoing impact and legacy they have in Australian Rules Football and society.

After wearing their 2024 Indigenous jumper in last week’s home clash with the Dockers, the GIANTS will return to their home strip on Sunday due to a clash with the Power.

KICK A GOAL, PLANT A TREE

Capital Brewing Co has partnered with the GIANTS to launch the fourth year of their Trees for Tomorrow initiative in partnership with Jindabyne-based environmental charity Keep it Cool.

The ‘Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree’ program has Capital Brewing Co working hand in hand with the GIANTS, committing to plant a native Australian tree for every goal kicked by the GIANTS’ AFL and AFLW teams throughout both seasons in 2024.

TEAM SELECTION

The GIANTS will name their squad to take on the Power on Thursday at 6:20pm and their final team on Friday at 5pm at gwsgiants.com.au. 

BROADCAST 

The GIANTS’ round 10 clash with the Power will be shown live on Fox Footy and Kayo nationally, and on 7 Mate in NSW and the ACT, from 5pm on Sunday.
