2025 Australian Open draw could feature Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic in same half

2025 Australian Open draw could feature Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic in same half

The 2025 Australian Open draw could throw up some mouthwatering early match-ups as several of the top players could find themselves in the same half of the draw.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner is assured of being the top seed for the 2025 season-opening Grand Slam at Melbourne Park as he will remain at No 1 in the ATP Rankings until at least the end of February next year.

The season-ending top 10 has been confirmed and Sinner is followed by Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev, Alex de Minaur and Grigor Dimitrov.

If that list stays the same ahead of next year’s Australian Open draw, then there is a possibility that the reigning world No 1 and defending champion as well as three former world No 1s could all find themselves in the top half.

The tennis gods could conspire and we could have a situation where Sinner along with Alcaraz (3), Medvedev (5) and Djokovic (7) are all on a collision course.

If the seedings hold, then Sinner could face Djokovic in the quarter-final and Alcaraz in the semi-final before potentially taking on Zverev in the final.

Djokovic was the top seed and defending champion at this year’s Australian Open, but lost in the semi-final against Sinner, who was seeded fourth. Medvedev (4) finished runner-up, but he took out Zverev in the last four and the German in turn beat Alcaraz (2) in the quarter-final.

Jannik Sinner secures No 1 milestone with latest win and set to surpass Carlos Alcaraz’s achievement

Zverev, Fritz, Ruud and Rublev could headline the bottom half of the draw of the 2025 draw.

The seedings for the 2025 Australian Open will be based on the ATP Rankings of January 6, which means there could still be a few changes to the top 10 before the tournament gets underway.

Points will be on offer at the United Cup, Hong Kong Open and Brisbane International in the first week of the new year with several top players set to be in action.

The top three are set to remain unchanged, but Fritz and Medvedev could swap places depending on their performances at the start of the 2025 while Ruud, Djokovic, Rublev and De Minaur are separated by just 510 points with many of them set to drop points in the first week of the season.

The 2025 Australian Open will start on January 12 with the men’s final set for Sunday the 26th.
