Jordan Mailata is known to make pancakes out of rival defenders but the man-mountain met his match against LA Rams on Monday (AEDT).
Mailata, from Sydney’s west, who is one of the Eagles’ seven captains, has made a name for himself in the United States as one of the best at his position, warranting his recent $102 million three-year extension.
At 203cm and 166kgs, Mailata usually dominates whoever lines up in front of him but Rams rookie linebacker Jared Verse had other ideas.

Verse, picked at No.19 in last year’s draft, has already made a name for himself in the league, recording sacks and wrecking offensive lines all season.
With the Rams leading 7-3 and the Eagles’ offence inside LA’s 20-yard line, the Rams needed to push the Eagles back to force a field goal rather than give up a touchdown.
With Philadelphia at 3rd and 16, the 118kg Verse got the jump on Mailata, gaining leverage and leaving the Aussie in a vulnerable position, eventually barrelling him over.
With about 50kgs weight difference between the two, the vision spread across the internet, leaving most in awe at the power on display.
NFL analyst Ryan Rowler said: “Jordan Mailata is 6’8″, 366 (pounds). Ridiculous from Jared Verse.”
Ex-NFL player Kirk Morrison said: “Jared Verse might be arrested for what he just did to Jordan Mailata on that last pass rush.”
Sports Illustrated’s Tom Cavanaugh wrote: “Jared Verse absolutely pancaking Mailata, one of the Eagles’ best offensive lineman (sic) … wow.”
While Verse got the better of Mailata on that occasion, the Aussie did enough to help the Eagles dominate up front, giving running back Saquon Barkley ample opportunities to shred the Rams.
Barkley ran for scores of 70 and 72 yards in the second half and finished with an Eagles-record 255 yards rushing in Philadelphia’s seventh consecutive victory, 37-20.
Barkley racked up the ninth-most yards rushing in a game in NFL history largely thanks to his huge touchdown runs bookending the second half.
He sprinted for a 70-yard score on the opening snap of the third quarter, and he added another huge run up the middle with 2:44 to play.
While averaging 9.8 yards per carry, Barkley obliterated the Eagles franchise records of 217 yards rushing by LeSean McCoy in 2013 and 296 total yards by Duce Staley in 2000. He also had the biggest rushing performance ever against the Rams, exceeding DeMarco Murray’s 253 yards for Dallas in 2011.
