Novak Djokovic will open his 2025 season at the Brisbane International before beginning his bid to win a record 25th major title at the Australian Open.
The Serbian superstar has won an unprecedented 10 titles in Melbourne and an 11th in January would see him take the outright record of Grand Slam singles titles, ahead of the 24 he currently shares with Australian Margaret Court.
The Brisbane International runs from December 29 to January 5 and is the last tournament before the Australian Open, which begins on January 12.
“I’m excited to be kicking off my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and to compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” Djokovic said.
“I am looking forward to experiencing the incredible support from the Australian fans and making this tournament one to remember.”
Djokovic reached the semi-finals in Melbourne this year, losing to eventual champion Jannik Sinner, and endured a frustrating season, winning only one title – albeit a hugely significant one.
Djokovic played a reduced schedule in 2024, targeting select events, and most recently appeared at an exhibition match in Buenos Aires as a farewell for former player Juan Martin del Potro.
The two met in four finals in Melbourne, with the Serb winning all of them. The tournament in Brisbane could be the first time spectators witness Murray in action in the coaching box.
