Hewitt is set to play an ITF junior event in Traralgon in early January before entering the Australian Open boys’ singles draw.
However, according to a Sydney Morning Herald report, he is also being considered by Tennis Australia for a men’s singles qualifying wildcard.
This could see him enter the qualifying draw at Melbourne Park, where 16 spots in the coveted main draw will be up for grabs.
Players must then progress through three qualification rounds to reach the Australian Open main draw.

If Hewitt is able to snag that wildcard, it would be a significant milestone in his young career.
The teenager currently plays on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior circuit and finished 2024 with a 30-10 record.
In the past season, he won two ITF junior titles.
This saw him nominated for the male junior player of the year award at the Australian Tennis Awards, which ultimately went to promising young gun Hayden Jones.
In Hewitt’s last appearance at Melbourne Park, he lost in straight sets to No. 6 seed Alexander Razeghi in the first round of the boys’ singles draw.
Hewitt is currently the world No. 107 in the junior rankings.
He reached a career-high No.99 in October 2024.
Hewitt turned 16 in December.
He was born in 2008.
