For the fourth consecutive year, Bowls Australia (BA) has been nominated for the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Media Awards.

After winning the award for Best Coverage of Sport for People With a Disability in 2023, BA will look to add a second category to its honours list, nominated for Best Coverage of Sport by a Club or Organisation.

With a staggering number of entries across all categories for the nominating delegates to cast their eyes over, BA’s continuous work to provide the best coverage of bowls possible has been recognised across various platforms, such as the website, social media, Rinkside Live streamingThe Right Line podcast, Without Bias and The Bowls Show.

Alongside BA as nominees are the Richmond Football Club for its work in the lead up to Dustin Martin’s 300th game, the Australian Olympic Committee for its #AllezAus campaign ahead of Paris 2024 and Surfing Australia for its work on the 2024 Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle.

BA was previously nominated in this category in 2022, falling just short behind the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

BA’s General Manager Promotion and Partnerships Aidan Davis said the organisation and staff involved were humbled to be recognised again.

“It’s an honour to be selected as a finalist alongside three distinguished organisations who each provide their fans and audiences more broadly with first class coverage of their sports and teams,” Davis said.

“Being recognised by the Australian Sports Commission for this coveted award is a reflection of the considerable work that goes on behind the scenes by a small but committed team who strive to shine a light and raise the profile of a sport, and its athletes, events, clubs and partners, that deserves to be showcased and celebrated for being one of the more participated and inclusive sports in the nation.

“We were thrilled to be a recipient of the “best coverage of sport for people with a disability” accolade last year, and for this to be our fourth consecutive finalist nomination at Australian sport’s only Media Awards function, and we thank the Australian Sports Commission for recognising the sport of bowls once again.”

Below is a list of BA’s nominations:

2021 – “best depiction of an inclusive sport” honourable mention

2022 – “best coverage of sport by a club or organisation” finalist

2023 – “best coverage of sport for people with a disability” winner

2024 – “best coverage of sport by a club or organisation”
