Marnus Labuschagne has hit back at David Warner for his comments on the former’s performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia. Warner had refused to show confidence in Marnus after his fifty in Australia’s first innings in the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. After registering two failures at the Optus Stadium, the right-handed batter showed form in the next turn under floodlights as Australia registered a 10-wicket win to level the series 1-1.

However, Warner was not impressed and even highlighted hus low scores during the first Test.

“I am not convinced with him as he is still not at his best. He might have hit a couple of freebies from the middle of his bat as India bowled poorly. He also had the best conditions to bat on Day 3. But he again played a reckless shot after scoring a fifty and this is what he has been doing for a long time,” Warner told Fox Cricket.

Labuschagne didn’t hold back and told Warner to check the number of times he had given a catch in the gully region.

“I want him to check stats before saying anything. It seems he thinks that I am getting out in the gully region every week,” Labuschagne told News Corp (via The Roar).

“I remember getting out in the gully twice so I have to look at Bull’s (Warner’s) comment. But everyone is here to write articles in newspaper s,” Labuschagne added.

The third Test of the five-match series will start at the Gabba on December 14 as the visiting team looks to bounce back after a 10-wicket defeat in Adelaide. India won the Test match in Brisbane during the 2021-22 tour, with Rishabh Pant playing a magnificent knock of 89 not out.
