Stan Wawrinka is set to make a return to the Australian Open in 2025, with the Swiss icon having won the Grand Slam in 2014.
Wawrinka has received an Australian Open wildcard along with eight Australians, with more set to be announced in due course.
He fell in the first round of the 2024 Australian Open, with Wawrinka also suffering a first round exit at the 2024 US Open.
The three-time Grand Slam champion meanwhile suffered second round exits at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Wawrinka still has a passion for tennis, although the 39-year-old has fallen to 161st place in the ATP Tour rankings.
That passion will undoubtedly be needed to help him go far in Melbourne, with Wawrinka set to move into the top five Australian Open main draw appearance makers list with his presence.

As per OptaAce, it will be his 19th such appearance, putting him behind only leader Roger Federer (21) and trio Lleyton Hewitt, Feliciano Lopez and Novak Djokovic (20).
Aged 39, Wawrinka is undoubtedly approaching retirement, although he hasn’t quite made the decision that Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray did this year.
The Swiss icon will be looking to use all of his experience to enjoy one likely final venture in Melbourne, having triumphed there over Nadal in 2014.

He followed that win up with French Open and US Open success over Novak Djokovic in 2015 and 2016 respectively, before losing to Nadal in the 2017 French Open final.

Also set to take on the 2025 Australian Open next month, Djokovic has the chance to extend his record 10 titles.
The Serbian impressively boasts double figures on the hard-court Grand Slam, with Federer his nearest competitor in the Open Era with six.
