Look, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, because at the moment the sun is beating down on the players as they go through their warm ups out on the field.
The forecast is not amazing though.
Brisbane area
Cloudy. High chance of showers, becoming less likely this evening. The chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe. Light winds.
Given we’ve already had over 40mm since this morning though, does that mean there is a real prospect of a lengthy passage of play?
The radar at the moment is splotchy, but far from terrifying, the wind bringing the clouds from the north east.
Rainy day frustrations
Yesterday was one long frustration – particularly for Australia’s bowlers.
With one foot on the throat of the Indian batters, the rain ensured that they never had enough time to truly capitalise on their dominance.
Dean Bilton wrote that the day was “among the infuriating days of Test cricket in recent memory” in his analysis, which you can read here.
Play will start at 9:50am AEST today
So we’ll start an extra half hour early again, with a laughable 98 overs scheduled.
I’d be stunned if we get anywhere close to that – even if the weather plays ball – but we’ll see.

What happened yesterday?
Well, apart from raining a fair bit, quite a lot happened over the course of yesterday’s play.
In fact, it was the rain that posed far more difficulty for Australia’s bowlers than India’s pitiful efforts with the bat, the tourists reduced to 4-51, still 394 runs behind.

Plenty of time for Australia to win the game
That’s the feeling of eternally optimistic all-rounder Mitch Marsh.
“When you get sent in and make 450, it’s always positive. You earn the right to attack early with the ball,” Marsh said.
“Now it’s just about how do we try and take 20 wickets. We have six more to get, and we just assess from there.”

Good morning
Hello folks and welcome to the fourth day of the third Test between Australia and India at the Gabba.
I’m Simon Smale and I’m here once more with Jon Healy to bring you all the action on what we are all hoping will be a day of significant action in a cloudy and humid Brisbane.
There was an awful lot of rain overnight in the city, 44.4mm according to the weather bureau, and the skies are ominously cloudy.
But, as of right now, the sun is actually shining.
Let’s hope the overnight rain is it for us today and we get a sustained passage of play.
