Where are Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz starting 2025 season ahead of Australian Open?

With the 2025 Australian Open just a month away, there looks to be three leading candidates for the men’s title: Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner is the defending champion in Melbourne, having dethroned 10-time winner Djokovic on his way to the title in 2024.

Djokovic will have Andy Murray in his corner as he aims to win back the crown and win a record 25th Grand Slam title, while Alcaraz is aiming to win the Australian Open for the first time and complete his set of Grand Slams.
But how will Sinner, Djokovic and Alcaraz be preparing for the Australian Open, which gets under way on January 12, live on Eurosport discovery+?

Djokovic to join Kyrgios in Brisbane

Djokovic will start his 2025 campaign at the Brisbane International.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion made his only previous appearance at the ATP 250 tournament in 2009.

He will be joined in Brisbane by Nick Kyrgios, who is making his comeback after playing one match in the last two years, Holger Rune, Grigor Dimitrov, and Frances Tiafoe.

It has not been confirmed if Djokovic will be joined in Brisbane by new coach Andy Murray, or whether they will link up in Melbourne.

As it stands he is set to be seeded seventh for the Australian Open.

No WARM-upS FOR Sinner, Alcaraz

Sinner and Alcaraz will not be in competitive action before the Australian Open after playing deep into 2024.

Sinner helped Italy defend their Davis Cup title in late November and is already starting pre-season work in Dubai.

Alcaraz has been in the United States in December to play exhibition matches in New York and Charlotte.

He will do his pre-season training in Spain before heading Down Under.

Sinner and Alcaraz are both set to join Djokovic in ‘Opening Week’ ahead of the Australian Open.

When is the 2025 Australian Open?

For the second year in a row there will be a Sunday start at the Australian Open.

The Grand Slam will get underway on Sunday, January 12 and will run until Sunday, January 26, with the first round now stretched across three days.

Qualifying is set to run from Monday, January 6 until Saturday, January 11, with players needing to win three matches to make the main draw.

Play in the main draw starts at midnight each day UK time on the outside courts and at 1am on the show courts. The evening session begins at 8am UK time.
