It wasn’t a true New Year’s Resolution that Billy Foster revealed on Instagram earlier this week, but it was certainly news about the veteran caddie’s plans for 2025. As he starts his 43rd year working on the pro tours, Foster is happy to be working once again with Matt Fitzpatrick, but also happy to say he’ll be working a little less in the coming year.

“It’s time,” Foster told Golfweek’s Adam Schupak ahead of this week’s PGA Tour season-opener, The Sentry, in Hawaii. “I’ve missed out on a lot in life.”

Foster, who caddied high-profile tour pros such as Seve Ballesteros, Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood before taking Fitzpatrick’s bag in 2019, says he will split caddie duties along with another veteran bagman, Daniel Parratt. Foster says he’ll work roughly 13 events with Fitzpatrick, including the Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship. He also hopes to work the Ryder Cup—what Foster calls his favorite event—should Fitzpatrick make the European team for a fourth time and play in September at Bethpage Black.

After the week at Kapalua’s Plantation course, Foster will go back home to Europe and not be back on the bag until the Arnold Palmer Invitational in April. He then intends to work a handful of events through the summer with Parratt returning to handle the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Interestingly, Foster notes in the Instagram post the idea of some side gigs, including potential work on Sky Sports. If that comes to fruition, Foster will be following in the recent footsteps of caddies/turned broadcasters Jim (Bones) Mackay and John Wood.

During his career, Foster’s players have won 45 times, with the Englishman picking up his first major title when Fitzpatrick was victorious at the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club.
