Adam Scott, Cam Davis and Jason Day will attempt to add to a strong Australian history in the PGA Tour event on the Hawaiian island of Maui this week when the trio tee up at The Sentry startingThursday morning (Friday afternoon AEDT) in Hawaii.

Although Cameron Smith is no longer plying his trade on the PGA Tour, his 2022 victory at the Plantation Course at Kapalua was the most recent of titles on Maui by a group of Australians including Stuart Appleby and Geoff Ogilvy.

The Sentry was previously known as the Tournament of Champions and was reserved exclusively for winners of PGA Tour events in the previous 12 months. Now, the event has changed its entry criteria to the top 50 on FedEx Cup points who made the previous year’s BMW Championship in the playoffs. Scott finished second at the BMW.

Scott wasn’t eligible for Kapalua in 2024 but comes into the season opener with two runner-up results on tour last year, where he finished in the top five on the FedEx Cup. The 44-year-old’s last win came at the 2020 Genesis Invitational at Riviera. He owns four top-10 finishes at Kapalua including a second place in 2007.

Also teeing up in the $US20 million season opener are Davis, Australia’s only winner on the PGA Tour in 2024, and Day.

Day also earned his spot at Kapalua by making it to the BMW Championship. Davis was T-10 at Kapalua in 2022 while Day’s career-best finish on Maui was the 2015 edition when he carded a course record-equalling 62 in the final round to finish T-3.
