Elliott Yeo tipped to re-sign with West Coast

June 18, 2024

In-demand West Coast unrestricted free agent Elliot Yeo is closing in on a new three-year deal with the Eagles.

The 30-year-old midfielder had initially been disappointed with a two-year deal with the club, but is pleased with West Coast’s new offer, reports Ryan Daniels.

Yeo is currently Adelaide’s no.1 target in the off-season, while Collingwood, North Melbourne and Geelong have also shown interest.

Adelaide dangle $2.7m contract to Elliot Yeo

May 20, 2024

Unrestricted free agent Elliot Yeo looms as one of the biggest players available in free agency.

According to Seven’s Ryan Daniels, the 30-year-old has been offered $2.7m across three years by Adelaide.

After battling injuries for the past couple of seasons, Yeo was expected to accept West Coast’s offer of $550k a season over two years.

However, Yeo’s quality form in 2024 has seen his value rise among potential suitors.

Despite Yeo’s age and his unrestricted free agent status, the Eagles could still receive an end of first-round compensation if the player accepts Adelaide’s mammoth offer.

North Melbourne star Luke Davies-Uniacke has admitted to not thinking about his next contract despite St Kilda circling.

Despite his contract expiring at the end of the 2025 season and becoming a restricted free agent, Davies-Uniacke says he is solely focused on improving North Melbourne.

“I haven’t really thought about contracts as of yet,” Davies-Uniacke told 3AW prior to the Collingwood match.

“I’m just putting all my energy into the playing group. I want to see this club get better and I want to start winning.”

The Saints are cashed up and could offer more than a $1 million a season over 10 years for the 25-year-old midfielder.

According to Ryan Daniels, McDonald has received offers of $200,000 a season more from the Magpies and Hawks than the Sydney deal on the table.

The 22-year-old had been expected to re-sign with Sydney but news of the gulf in salaries may prompt a rethink.

At this stage, West Australian clubs Fremantle and West Coast haven’t shown significant interest in the Bunbury-born product.

The All Australian small forward could get up to $800,000 a season if he moves, with the Cats only offering $600,000, according to the Herald Sun.

St Kilda are after elite talent for their list and could turn to Stengle if bids for players such as Luke Davies-Uniacke fall through.

After rejecting Sydney at the end of 2023, Tom Barrass is now being hunted by a pair of Victorian clubs.

According to Gettable, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs are both interested in snaring the Eagle gun for next season.

However, the 28-year-old’s contract doesn’t expire until the end of the 2027 season, meaning the Magpies or Bulldogs would need to trade for the defender.

Barrass would likely command at least a first-round pick in the open market.

Jacob Weitering set to reject mega St Kilda offer

May 15, 2024

Carlton star Jacob Weitering is likely to turn down an eye-watering deal to join St Kilda in 2026.

It was reported the Saints would offer Weitering $1.5m a season over eight years when the defender comes out of contract at the end of 2025.

However in a recent interview with Glenn McFarlane prior to the speculation of the St Kilda offer, Weitering made it clear he would like to stick together with his team-mates at Carlton.

“Money is a big part of what we do because it is our job, but we also have to keep the team happy and keep together,” Weitering said.

“I’m willing to sacrifice a little bit.”
