All-Australian Magpie in the gun following poor month of footy

Kane Cornes has put Josh Daicos in the gun after what has been an average year by his lofty standards.

The 2023 All-Australian wingman has averaged 21 disposals across the last month of footy in particular and Cornes believes Collingwood needs more from him given the injuries the side is dealing with.

Daicos had an outstanding 2023 season, winning the Pies’ best and fairest in a premiership season.

“He hasn’t played well for a month,” Cornes told SEN Breakfast.

“He was the All-Australian wingman last year, one of the best wingmen in football, he needs to start impacting games more.

“He’s sent the footy inside 50 three times in the last three weeks. For one of the best kicks that we’ve got, he’s got to be delivering the ball inside 50 more than that.

“Last year he had 30 disposals or more six times, this time it’s twice. He’s not kicking goals like he did last year – 16 goals last year, just the seven this year – he hasn’t kicked a goal for three weeks.

“I just feel like he’s got to get back to his All-Australian best and help his brother.”

Collingwood takes on Richmond at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

They have named Lachie Schultz, Mason Cox, Harvey Harrison and Billy Frampton to return as part of an extended squad.
