AO Opening Week 2025: Which tennis stars will be playing? | Sporting News Australia

Australian Open 2025’s ‘Opening Week’ promises to be better than ever with a stack of stars performing in charity matches and special events.

From Tuesday, January 7 to Friday, January 10, there will be a busy schedule of exhibition matches for charity and unique tennis events.

Not only will fans be thrilled with novelty events, but the Australian Open qualifying will also be underway though this period spread throughout the Melbourne Park courts.

Which tennis stars will be playing at AO Opening Week 2025?

The full list of players and matches will be released closer to the start of AO Opening Week, but several stars have already been announced as competing in a press release from Tennis Australia:

  • Novak Djokovic
  • Jannik Sinner
  • Carlos Alcaraz
  • Alex de Minaur
  • Alexei Popyrin
  • Players attempting to qualify for the Australian Open main draw

When is AO Opening Week 2025?

AO Opening Week 2025 will start on Tuesday, January 7 and finish on Saturday, January 11 – ahead of the Australian Open main draw commencing on Sunday, January 12.

It will be held across the Australian Open venue at Melbourne Park.

The Opening Week will run while the Australian Open qualifying period plays in its own time period from Monday, January 6 to Saturday, January 11.

What events will feature at AO Opening Week 2025?

  • Charity matches featuring some of the world’s best players
  • Australian Open 1 Point Slam with regular punters competing against tennis professionals
  • Red Bull Bassline – six players from top 50 compete in a knockout-based tie-break tournament
  • Kids Tennis Day on Saturday, January 11

How much are tickets for AO Opening Week 2025?

Ground Pass – $15

Tickets on sale now with fans being able to access qualifying matches on outside courts, players practice on Rod Laver Arena and entertainment on Grand Slam Oval and Garden Square.

Charity matches/special events – TBA

Tickets on sale December 9.

Kids Tennis Day – $15-$25

Tickets on sale December 9.
