The Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the Boxing Day Test starting on December 26, and the final Test will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 4 to 8.
These dates are part of Australian Cricket’s seven-year scheduling plan. This plan aims to provide more certainty around match scheduling and to promote collaborations with government tourism departments. Adelaide has a history of hosting day-night Ashes Tests, with earlier matches in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 series. The Gabba, which has hosted three day-night Tests, might see its last Ashes Test due to redevelopment plans for the 2032 Olympics.
Cricket Australia’s current focus, however, is on the upcoming five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series.
Australia retained the Ashes in the 2023 series in England with a draw.

Joel Morrison, CA’s executive general manager of events and operations, said in Perth, “The 2025-26 Ashes dates align with our recently released seven-year international schedule and we are grateful for the support state and territory governments are providing to enhance and grow our major events.”
The current Ashes urn remains with Australia after a 2-2 draw in the last series held in the UK.
