The defending champions Australia beat New Zealand by 60 runs in match number 10 of ICC women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group A match to cement thier position at the top of the points table. Australia with this win have 4 points. New Zealand on the other hand have to compete with India and New Zealand for the semifinal spot.

Earlier, Australia came out to bat after winning the toss. Skipper Alyssa Healy (26) started aggressively and added 41 runs for the first wicket with Beth Mooney.

Beth Mooney (40) and Ellyse Perry (30) then added 45 runs for the second wicket to keep the Australian innings going. However, late strikes from Amelia Kerr (4 for 26) and Brooke Halliday (2 for 16) halted Australia just shy of the 150-run mark, finishing at 148 for 8.

In reply, New Zealand were never in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Suzi Bates (20) and Amelia Kerr (29) tried to put up a fight, but the White Ferns were eventually bundled out for just 88.

For Australia, Megan Schutt and Annabel Sutherland took three wickets each to dismantle the New Zealand batting line-up.
