Pat Cummins has revealed he could miss some of next year’s Test series against Sri Lanka, with his wife Becky due to give birth to their second child.
Australia are scheduled to tour early next year for a two-game series which could play a role with the World Test Championship standings.
But with the due date set to coincide with the overseas tour, Cummins told The Sydney Morning Herald he would consider missing some – or all – of the series.

“Yeah it’s definitely a factor,” the 31-year-old said.
“We haven’t worked out exactly what that looks like – it’s pretty hard to plan exactly the day, but definitely. I missed a big chunk [of son Albie’s early days] last time and I want to work out how we can spend a bit more time at home for that initial period this time.
“Within reason, no one is ever going to bat an eyelid if someone needs to put their family first. We’re playing cricket, it’s not the end of the world.
“We want people to have long, successful careers for Australia, and you can’t just ask them to put their life on hold to go tour the world and forget about everything else.
“We’re pretty open when it comes to family.”
Cummins has put cricket on hold in the past for family reason – namely last year when the skipper was forced to fly home to be with his late mother Maria in her final days.
At the time of his son Albie’s birth, cricketers were under strict COVID guidelines and it meant he was flying abroad for the T20 World Cup less than a week after the birth.
This time around, the fast-bowling superstar is determined to spend more time by his wife’s side and is willing to forego donning the baggy green in the process.
