Aussie stars get Paris Olympic campaign underway as medal hopes revealed — LIVE

With the Opening Ceremony done and dusted, the Paris Olympics officially gets underway on Saturday evening — and there’s plenty of Australians in action in the French capital.

The swimming heats kick off at 7pm AEST before the mouth-watering clash between Australian champion Ariarne Titmus and American rival Katie Ledecky in the women’s 400m freestyle.

The Australian men’s rugby sevens team will face reigning champions Fiji in the semi-final at midnight before the gold medal match at 3.45am.

The Boomers face Spain at 7pm, while the Kookaburras take on Argentina a couple of hours later at 9.15pm.

Australians will be hunting for medals in skateboarding, diving and cycling events, while Opening Ceremony flag-bearer Jess Fox will headline the canoe slalom heats.

And if that’s not enough for you, there’s also Australians competing in the beach volleyball, tennis and water polo.
