The Australian men’s national basketball team, also known as the Australian Boomers, has announced its NBA-studded roster, which will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The squad features 12 players, nine with NBA experience and eight who played in the league last season, along with several stars from the local league NBL.

The NBA talent includes Josh Giddey, Josh Green, Dante Exum, Jock Landale, Duop Reath, Dyson Daniels, Patty Mills, and Joe Ingles, along with former Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova, who now plays in the NBL.

The squad will be rounded off by Jack McVeigh and Will Magnay, both members of the reigning NBL Champions Tasmania JackJumpers, and former NBL MVP Nick Kay.

The Boomers aim to win a medal for the second consecutive Olympics after securing bronze in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several notable omissions from the Australian Boomers

Despite the roster being loaded with NBA talent, several notable omissions from Australia’s Olympic squad surprised fans.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Matthew Tybulle, a member of the 2020 Olympic squad in Tokyo, was notably left out of the roster, potentially impacting the team’s defense.

Other Australian Boomers mainstays, such as Chris Goulding and Xavier Cooks, were also not included in the squad for Paris.
